FRANGIPANIS

The ground floor was virtually gutted and re-designed to incorporate the new kitchen, dining areas, a useful outside verandah and toilet facilities. Large fold-a-side doors were added at the ground floor and an open plan kitchen cum dining area was designed. The first floor plan included three offices, an open plan kitchen and lounge area with a wrap-around stoep looking onto to the street below. Views of Devil’s Peak were obtained both at ground and first floor levels. Overall, the design provided new features that enhanced the space and functionality of the property, while tying in with the surrounding building fabric.

My Design

Operating as a deli/restaurant, this original old semi-detached corner house in Woodstock was in dire need of an upgrade. Frangipanis, the restaurant tenant, needed the entire space re-designed to include a new kitchen, dining areas, bathroom facilities and better access to outside spaces. The owner also wanted a first floor addition versatile enough to accommodate a small business or live-in tenants. Located in a Conservation Area, the building needed to comply with heritage requirements while meeting the various needs of my clients.
